Friday September 14, 2018 at 1000 hours at the National Cathedral.
3101 Wisconsin Avenue, NW

The Family requests no Fire Apparatus, Pipes and Drums, or Honor Guard

Fire Department personnel are requested to wear Class A uniforms.
 
Parking at and around the National Cathedral is extremely limited and the use of public transportation is strongly encouraged. The nearest Metro stop is Tenleytown (approximately 1.2 miles)

There will be a reception immediately following the service in the Grand Ballroom (D&E) of the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road, Rockville, Maryland 20852

It is with a heavy heart that the Eastern Division of the IAFC announces the passing of Past President Chief James P. Seavey, Sr. Chief Seavey, passed away peacefully this morning, September 4, 2018, in his home surrounded by family and friends. The Officers and Members send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

For those who did not have the pleasure of knowing Chief Seavey, in addition to being a Past President of the EDIAFC, he served as the Chief of the Cabin John Park (MD) Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, was a Past Executive Committee Member and Chairman for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association (MSFA), was a life Member of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA), and served on the IAFC Volunteer & Combination Officers Section (VCOS) Board where he led the fight against cancer. In addition, to the above-noted, Chief Seavey had a distinguished career with the District of Columbia Fire & EMS Department before retiring in 2016. There are no words that can fully capture his impact to the fire service.

The Seavey family is requesting respect of their privacy at this difficult time. Please do not contact them directly. At this time funeral arrangements and memorial service are pending. We will get this information out to the membership as soon as the details are available.

Chief Seavey is at peace. His presence and influence will be greatly missed. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
